ACTIVITY 2: ANALYZING AUDIO MEDIA COVERAGE

As a group, you will research your topic further, this time including audio and audiovisual news sources. You will choose three and analyze the content.

Steps:

  1. Reseach topic using the links provided and identify three different audio and/or audiovisual news sources.

  2. Analyze each news source to identify tone, level of formality, level of and intended audience.

  3. Together, you will use the online tool Audacity to record an audio sample (3-5 minutes) describing your findings and giving concrete examples from the works to support your position. Each member of the group must speak, and it is suggested that the group prepare for the voice recoring by writing down ideas and/or a script first.

  4. Record on Audacity using the teacher's credentials and submit via email. Be sure to include your names and topic at the top of your publication, and links to the news items you analyzed.
